Did the PGA ban sunscreen?! 🧐

No, as far as I know, the PGA did not ban sunscreen.

But, Bryson -- you beautiful, hulking, mad scientist -- you already have two bad hips (albeit also two US Open Championships) from all that wacko speed training you do. You don't need skin cancer on top that.

As you can see in the next two photos, Bryson's custom New Era cap nicely protects his forehead, but it abruptly ends there.

Are pro golfers proud of these ridiculous tan lines? (I see you Patrick Reed!! 😱)

A dollop of sunscreen on your face, ears, and neck applied at least once but ideally two or three times during a full day of golf goes a long away in reducing premature aging of facial skin and skin cancers like basal cell carcinoma (BCC), squamous cell carcinoma (SCC), and melanoma.

Speaking of golf, I happen to be about an hour away from teeing off on an actual golf course for the first time in my life.

I'm packing one of my all time favorites, Amarte's Ultra Veil Facial Sunscreen SPF 50+ (not an affiliate link), in my bag.

I'm nervous, but I also know I'll never not suck at golf if I don't start sucking.

Since my 4-year-old son loves the sport, I'm excited to play with him down the road so I'm also excited to start sucking.

Thanks to a relationship with one of the local banks in town, I scored a spot on the 2024 Tees for Kids Scramble taking place today at the Wausau Country Club.

The event benefits Marshfield Children's, our local Children's' Miracle Network hospital.

Children's hospitals are remarkable places that depend on generous donations from sponsors of events like this one. I'm grateful to all of them and to the WCC for hosting us.

The now thriving 4-year-old I just mentioned spent a couple days in a wonderful children's hospital in Minnesota during his first week of life, so I'll always have a soft spot for causes like this.

Wish me luck today!

And for a good laugh in case you need one to kick off your work week, I'll leave you with some high quality "overheard at the country club":

"Bro, I was by your house yesterday. I hydroplaned and went into the ditch. I was going 80! I was in my Dad’s Tesla. The rear tires are so bald."

😬🥴😬

Country Club Tesla Dad -- if you happen to be on my list, talk to your son... and remind him, like Baz Luhrmann reminded my generation years ago, to wear sunscreen!

As always, I'd like to express my gratitude to each of you for being one of my first 192 subscribers! It means the world to me.

For all who celebrated, I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving with family and friends. I'm grateful to all of you who bother to open and read these notes.Instead of selling you something on Black Friday, I want to give you something.Today on my podcast feed, I released a bonus episode that contains an audio version of an unfinished e-book that I started writing many months ago. Here's the cover I mocked up over a year ago. Don't judge my graphic design skills. They've improved a bit since...

I just got off of a call that inspired me to send this note.Wouldn't it be nice if you had a board-certified dermatologist in one of your group chats? This would NOT be for individualized, formal medical advice. That's what Above & Beyond Dermatology is for. If you're looking for that and happen to live in WI, MN, IL, CO, NE, or AL, reply to this email with a bit about what you're struggling with, and we'll see if it's a good fit. It would, however, be a place where you and your soon-to-be...

When it comes to sun preferences, I don’t judge my patients or anyone else. But I do know from experience that one of the best ways to look like a grandma or a grandpa when you’re actually just a mom or a dad is to abuse the sun on a consistent basis. If you’re interested in sun protection, a great tool in the kit is a reliable broad brimmed hat that you’ll actually wear. However, functional sun hats often leave something to be desired when it comes to fashion. Fortunately, the good folks at...
